Storytellers XV - Parramore Our Home
November 10, 2011 - April 15, 2012
OUTREACH INSTRUCTOR/EXHIBITION: Featuring the work of young photographers from Orlando’s historic Parramore neighborhood, in partnership with the New Image Youth Center. Created by Crealdé School of Art in 1996, Storytellers gives students ages 13 to 17 an opportunity to express themselves in pictures and words while rediscovering their cultural heritage and community. Lead by faculty photographer, Sherri Bunye, these students learned about their community, photography, and worked in a digital darkroom to produce amazing black and white photographs. Participants took a caption writing workshop to develop writing skills necessary to caption their photographs.
Traveling exhibitions of Storytellers have been organized by Crealdé, touring Central Florida libraries and community centers, including a showing in the Supreme Court building at our state capital in Tallahassee. In addition, this project has been featured on two covers of Florida Magazine and was voted Best Arts Collaboration in 2000 by United Arts of Central Florida.

Exits Less Traveled (formally known as Floridascapes)
Orange County Administration Building
September 1, 2011 - September 26, 2011
SOLO EXHIBIT: Talented photographer Sherri Bunye is displaying her latest work from the “FloridaScapes” project (September 1 – September 26). Sherri is currently a Crealdé Studio Artist and received a United Arts Professional Development grant to assist her in producing the comprehensive project. Ms. Bunye has a clear vision for her work: “FloridaScapes are images from communities and cities along Florida's longest Interstate. Going from coast to coast, Interstate 4 cuts through cities and neighborhoods, some that have been established since the 1800s. Being a native Floridian, I have watched the landscape of our community change over the years. By merging my love of photography with my connection to Florida, I want to share a visual story of the roadway and the people in the communities that surround all 132 miles; hopefully inspiring others to take the exit less traveled and see the beauty and charm in the communities along Interstate 4.”
